We invite proposals for tutorials on topics in the broader areas of image processing, vision, and imaging, covering theory, methods, systems, and applications. An extended list of conference themes and topics of interest can found at https://2026.ieeeicip.org/topics/. Tutorials are expected to cover topics of current interest, preference will be given to proposals submitted by presenters with a recognized track record of contribution in the relevant field.
Tutorials will have a duration of 3 hours, including a 20-minute break, and will take place before the main technical program. As ICIP 2026 is an in-person conference, presenters will be required to be physically present at the conference in Tampere. Each tutorial shall be presented by three presenters at maximum.
Tutorial proposals should include the following information:
- Title
- Presenters:
- Names.
- Affiliation and contact information (email and mailing address).
- A brief bio for each presenter, including relevant recent publications.
- A summary of the presenter’s previous tutorial delivery experience, if any.
- Abstract (maximum 250 words): A description of the tutorial topic, providing a sense of both the scope and depth of the tutorial.
- Tutorial Details
- Goals: What will the audience walk away with? What makes the topic innovative? What core concepts, methods, and modeling frameworks will be conveyed? What scenarios will be used to illustrate?
- Intended Audience: Include the background of the audience and expected number of attendees.
- Prerequisite Knowledge: What knowledge is assumed of the target audience.
- Rationale for the tutorial includes the importance, timeliness, novelty of the tutorial, and how it can introduce new ideas, topics, and tools to the SP community.
- Relevance: Address the importance and timeliness of the proposal, and its relevance to researchers and engineers.
- Tutorial Outline: Detailed syllabus.
- Previous Editions (Optional): If the tutorial was given before, describe when and where it was given, and if and how it will be modified for IEEE ICIP 2026. If possible, provide a link to slides of the previous tutorial presentation.
- Presentation Material (Optional): If already available, please submit the draft of the tutorial content, as it can aid in assessing the proposal and enables the committee to provide more constructive suggestions regarding the content.
- Supplementary Materials (Optional): Feel free to list all supplemental materials augmented with samples, such as past tutorial slides and survey articles, whenever possible.
Tutorial Evaluation Criteria:
- Relevance for ICIP audience / Adherence to ICIP topics: relevance of the proposal and the topics of IEEE ICIP
- Insight: Insight and fundamental understanding of the topic, rather than more superficial enumeration of techniques.
- Quality: State-of-the art coverage of the topic and coherence.
- Expertise of the presenter: prominence of the presenter in the area of the tutorial.
- Interest spectrum: Topic is of broad interest to academia and/or industry, researchers and/or engineers/students.
Tutorial proposals must be submitted through the paper management system (to be open in December 2025) and will be assessed by the Education and Tutorial Chairs, who may possibly request additional material / information from the applicants. Decisions will be provided via email according to the following timeline.
