Publishing & Presentation Options

Background

ICIP 2026 offers several ways for authors to present their latest research

1. Submit a conference paper

Authors are invited to submit regular and special-session papers.

Accepted papers will be presented in the main conference program and published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library as part of the ICIP 2026 Proceedings. In addition, these papers will be freely accessible and downloadable through the IEEE Xplore Open Preview, which will open one month prior to the conference and remain available until the conference concludes.

Authors of accepted papers may also request to present a demo during the Show & Tell session.

Extended versions of conference papers can be submitted to IEEE SPS journals (see “Conference to Journal Papers” guidelines for details).

Top papers demonstrating exceptional maturity and/or novelty will be spotlighted at the conference and granted expedited review for their extended versions submitted to IEEE Transactions on Image Processing or IEEE Transactions on Computational Imaging.

Conference papers may be up to 5 pages in length, plus one additional page for references only. Submissions are made through the conference paper submission system.

See Important DatesPaper Submission, and Author Policy.

2. Submit a journal paper to the IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing (OJSP)

Authors are invited to submit papers to the ICIP review track of OJSP.

OJSP is a fully open-access journal that publishes high-quality, peer-reviewed articles within the ICIP scope. Submissions follow the same peer-review timeline as regular conference papers. Accepted papers will be published in OJSP and presented in the main conference program. These papers are subject to an Article Processing Charge (APC) for open-access publication, payable after acceptance.

Authors of accepted papers may also request to present a demo during the Show & Tell session.

OJSP submissions may be up to 8 pages, plus one additional page for references only. Submissions must be made through the OJSP Author Portal.

See Important DatesOJSP Paper Submission, and Author Policy.

3. Present a paper recently published or accepted in an SPS journal

Authors who have published a paper in a Signal Processing Society and meeting certain eligibility criteria are invited to submit a Journal Paper Presentation Request to present the paper at the conference.

Authors of papers that fit within the scope of the conference will receive an acceptance letter, and upon registration will receive an invoice and invitation letter to apply for internal funding and/or travel visa to attend and present the paper. Where possible, journal papers presented at the conference will be included in the conference proceedings provided to conference attendees, by downloading the original paper from IEEE Xplore® and including it in the conference proceedings for attendees. Journal papers will not be included in the conference proceedings published in IEEE Xplore.

Eligibility requirements are as follows

  1. Paper must have been published or accepted for publication in an SPS journal between April 23, 2025 and April 22, 2026;
  2. Paper topic should be aligned with the conference’s technical program, and authors should select relevant EDICS from the conference’s list;
  3. Authors of published or accepted journal papers must meet the same registration requirements as all authors, including the total number of papers that can be covered by a single registration.

Authors of accepted presentations of recently published journal papers may also request to present a demo during the Show & Tell session.

See Important Dates.

4. Submit a one-page abstract

Authors willing to present their research in progress are welcome to submit a one-page abstract to request a presentation at the conference. The accepted abstracts will presented at the conference as part of the Work-in-Progress track and published in the Proceedings of ICIP 2026 distributed to conference participants.

Abstracts submitted to the conference paper management system (opens December 2025). Authors of accepted one-page abstracts may also request to present a demo during the Show & Tell session.

See Important Dates.

5. Submit a two-page extended abstract of an entry to a Grand Challenge

Participants in a grand challenge are invited to submit a two-page extended abstract as part of their GC participation package. Accepted abstracts will be presented at the conference grand-challenge track and published in IEEE Xplore as part of the ICIP 2026 Workshop Proceedings. Presenters will also be invited to submit full papers to the IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing (OJSP).

See Important Dates.
