“You must go on a long journey before you can really find out how wonderful home is.”
— Tove Jansson (Comet in Moominland)
We always return somewhere – somewhere we feel cozy, relaxed, excited, creative, understood, supported, cherished, loved. Somewhere we feel at home.
We warmly welcome you to the 33rd edition of the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP 2026), to be held in Tampere, Finland, from 13–17 September 2026.
Since 1994, ICIP has been a home for experts in image processing, vision, and imaging. Participants return year after year for its broad coverage of the latest developments in the field, for the fruitful discussions, illuminating plenaries and keynotes, and inspiring discoveries presented by talented researchers. ICIP has fostered a strong sense of community and a spirit of innovation. Over the years, the conference has embraced themes ranging from the physics of light to computational image formation, analysis, processing, interpretation, and visualization.
In 2026, we aim to return to the conference’s roots – where image processing is grounded in a deep understanding of domain challenges and processes, and experts are empowered with versatile tools, including AI. We invite you to share this spirit with us at ICIP 2026.
People love returning to Tampere for its stunning nature, crystal-clear lakes, vibrant cultural scene, and rich selection of dining experiences. Many have made Tampere their home, drawn by its world-class services in a livable city close to nature. Tampere is a city of education, culture, and sports, as well as a hub for research, technology, industry, and business. It has been ranked the most student-friendly city in Finland and proudly holds the title of World Sauna Capital. We are confident that in Tampere you will feel at home.
Tampere also hosts one of the world’s top imaging technology clusters – Imaging Tampere. The first mobile phone cameras and their imaging algorithms were developed in Nokia’s Tampere labs, while generations of world-class imaging scientists were trained at Tampere University of Technology, now Tampere University. Today, the Tampere Imaging Ecosystem includes over 25 companies, ranging from global corporations to highly innovative SMEs.
It is our professional and personal commitment to organize ICIP 2026 in Tampere as a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive experience – for everyone. Like home.
Welcome to Tampere for ICIP 2026.
