We invite proposals for Satellite Workshops on focused or emerging topics in image processing, vision and imaging, not specifically covered in the main conference and/or enabling thematic synergies between the IEEE Signal Processing Society and other related societies.
Satellite Workshops are intended to enhance the quality of the ICIP 2026 program, broaden its scope, and promote inclusivity by engaging a diverse audience of students, practitioners, and academics. Workshops may feature a combination of regular papers, invited talks, keynotes, and panel discussions, encouraging active participation and dialogue.
Each workshop will operate its own peer review process, managed by the organizers. Submitted papers must conform to the conference’s style, format, and length requirements (see author kit). If workshop organizers wish to have papers of their workshops included in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library as part of the ICIP 2026 Satellite Workshop Proceedings, the review process should follow the main conference’s peer-review standards.
Satellite Workshops will be held as half-day or full-day events and will take place on September 13 or September 17, 2026, before or after the main technical program.
Satellite Workshop proposal requirements
Satellite proposals must include:
- Title: A concise and descriptive title of the proposed workshop
Organizers: Names, affiliations, contact information, and short bios of each organizer, including relevant experience - Abstract (maximum 250 words): Provide a concise overview of the proposed workshop, including its motivation, core themes, and anticipated impact. Explain why the selected topic(s) merit a dedicated workshop outside the main conference, how the workshop would complement and enhance the ICIP 2026 program, and its relevance to the broader research community. Highlight how the workshop could stimulate new momentum in the field, and address aspects of novelty, such as emerging research areas, interdisciplinary connections, and potential synergies with other IEEE societies.
- Composition: Describe the anticipated structure of the workshop, including the proposed mix of regular papers, invited presentations, keynotes, and panel discussions (note: inclusion of all elements is not required). If available, provide tentative information on specific contributors or speakers. Additionally, indicate whether any competitions or challenges are planned as part of the workshop, and include relevant details. Explain what measures will be taken to ensure diversity and address any ethical issues (e.g., shared data).
- Duration: half or full day
- Attendees: Expected number of attendees and their background.
- Tentative list of Technical Program Committee: notice that workshop organizers are responsible for identifying reviewers for the workshop. Please provide a list of confirmed TPC members.
- Additional sponsorship (if available)
- Workshop Proceedings: Clarify whether you are aiming at publishing workshop proceedings by selecting one of the options:
- Submit for publication in IEEE Xplore ICIP 2026 Workshop Proceedings;
- No Proceedings.
Proposals for the Satellite Workshops must be submitted to the paper management system (opens December 2025).
Evaluation criteria
Workshop proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Thematic relevance to IEEE ICIP 2026
- Focus and novelty of the proposed topic
- Potential interest and engagement the workshop may generate
- Anticipated impact on the research community
- Credentials and expertise of the organizer(s)
- Completeness and clarity of the submitted proposal, including all required information
Logistics
The organizers of IEEE ICIP 2026 Satellite Workshops will be responsible for the workshop scientific planning and promotion (including setting up and advertising a webpage with relevant workshop information) running of the paper peer-review process, undertaking all communications with the submitted paper authors, creating and announcing the event schedule, abiding by the important dates listed on the conference website, and seamlessly communicating with the IEEE ICIP 2026 Satellite Workshop Chairs.
The costs for the room rental and standard audio-visual equipment are waived for workshop organizers, and the conference organizing committee will assist with onsite logistics. Workshops with a final program shorter than half a day and/or fewer than five in-person presenters may be subject to cancellation.
