Direct flights to Tampere



Tampere has an international airport only a 15-minute ride from the city centre. Tampere Airport is one of the main hubs of airBaltic, and offers some direct flights, as well as numerous connections from all over the world via Riga.

Please note that airBaltic flights cannot be found on generic booking sites. If you want to fly to Tampere, please look for your flight on the airBaltic website www.airbaltic.com or on the websites of one of airBaltic’s codeshare partners.


Travel via Helsinki



There are over 150 direct flights daily from all over the world to Helsinki, the capital of Finland. Finnair has direct flights to Helsinki from all major cities in Europe, as well as from a number of cities in Asia and the United States.

To lower the carbon footprint, we recommend you use train or bus connection to Tampere. Fast Pendolino trains offer a very convenient ride, taking passengers from Helsinki Airport via Tikkurila station to Tampere in 1h 30 minutes. You can buy your train ticket online on the VR website https://www.vr.fi/en or their mobile app (App Store, Google Play).

Please note that the tickets from Helsinki Airport to Tikkurila will be available in the summer 2026. If you search to tickets to Tampere prior to that, you will be told there are no connections. You can always check the train times from Tikkurila to Tampere.

Buses between Helsinki Airport and Tampere run almost every hour and the journey takes approximately 2 hours. Bus tickets can be bought online on https://www.matkahuolto.fi/passengers/bus-tickets-and-travel-cards.


Slow travel by land and sea



The easiest way to get to Finland without flying is by taking a train from central Europe to Stockholm via Copenhagen. From Stockholm the journey continues to Turku, Finland by ferry (10–12 hours) or Helsinki (18 hours). Direct trains from the Port of Turku to Tampere take around two hours, and trains from Helsinki Central Station less than two hours.

You can also take the boat to Helsinki from Tallinn, Estonia (2–3 hours), or Travemünde/ Lübeck, Germany (27 hours).


Transportation in Tampere



Tampere is a compact city, where the conference venue and accommodation options are within a convenient walking distance from the train and bus stations, as well as from each other. When walking is not an option, consider renting a bike or an electric scooter, or hopping on the tram.
